Rungolee is a lifestyle collection of seasonless statement pieces designed to bring ease and elevation to your daily wardrobe, and made to roam the world.. Inspired by a love of travel and art, our versatile, timeless pieces will gather compliments wherever you go, and we hope, bring you joy.
Each of our prints is designed in house and begins as a painting. Anjali, our founder, trained in surface design at FIT, and with her talented team creates sophisticated specialty pieces that are truly one-of-a-kind.
The Process
Once a print is designed, our team of artisans at our Mumbai atelier springs into action to bring the pieces to life. We employ heritage techniques for the creation of our pieces where possible- working to preserve these ancient art forms like block and hand screen printing, hand embroidery and handloomed fabrics, while aiding in local job creation.
Anjali has nurtured the blossoming of Rungolee through various ups and downs in economic times as well as the pandemic. The label which started out in rented factory spaces in Bombay 15 years ago, is now centralized in the designer’s own modern studios, which include state of the art sewing machines, a bright and airy lunch and common room, and a cheery air of accomplishment amongst her personally trained local staff.
Anjali and her team are always working to ensure her employee community across the globe is protected and cared for. Relying on their jobs to support families and pay the rent, Rungolee is ever conscious of ensuring the security of our small but vital team. Keeping the work flow steady of course is key.
More than ever, now is the time for supporters of small batch, hand detailed labels to invest in a movement that is about sustainability; supporting communities involved in specialist embroidery and detailing which are in precarious danger of dying out, and ultimately feeling pride in wearing garments which all have their stories to tell. This is certainly a motivation for us all at Rungolee. We strive to create high
quality garments that transcend trends and are made to last, and will ride through the years, adapting to changing forecasts.
